May is National Water Safety Month!

To celebrate, Dallas Aquatics is offering a special promotion and a special event!

The Promotion:

Everyone who registers for swim lessons during the month of May will receive a free ticket to Bahama Beach Waterpark. You can register online or at any of the 47 City of Dallas Recreation Centers. Classes fill up fast so register early to secure your spot and get your free Bahama Beach ticket.

The Event:

Dallas Aquatics will be celebrating National Water Safety Month with two free family events. Join us at one of our free Water Safety Fairs at either Bachman Indoor Pool on Saturday, May 18th from 1-3pm or Samuell Grand Pool on Friday June 14th from 2-5pm. We will have water safety presentations for kids with Lifesaver the Water Safety Duck, tips for parents watching kids around the water and home pool safety information. We will also have water games, free swim lesson assessments and free swimming so grab your swimsuits and bring the whole family!

Helping Dallas youth learn to swim: The Teach a Child to Swim scholarship program

Drowning is the second leading cause of injury death of infants and children younger than 15 years old in the U.S. For every child who drowns, four children are hospitalized for near-drowning. Unfortunately, many families cannot afford the cost of swim lessons. You Can Help.

Donate to the Scholarship Fund

The Dallas Park and Recreation Department offers low cost swim lessons at locations throughout the city. For only $40, you can help us teach a child to swim. Your $40 donation will fund a two week session of swim lessons for one child. Swimming is a skill every child should learn. Swimming adds fun and fitness to a child’s life, and most importantly, may one day save their life.

Apply for the Scholarship

The City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department maintains a scholarship fund to help those youth who do not have the financial means to participate in swim lessons. The scholarship program is made possible through donations from businesses and individuals primarily through the water bill donation envelope program. The number of scholarships and the maximum award amounts vary from year to year based on the success of fundraising efforts.
