The Dallas Community Pool Swim Team Program is a recreational program that introduces youth to the sport of swimming through friendly competition. Swimming on a team is a great way to increase strength and endurance, make friends and build self esteem. Swim team members receive coaching on the four basic swim strokes: freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly. The swim team program is intended for those swimmers who are not members of a year round swim program as the goal is to provide recreational swimmers with a positive experience swimming with those of similar ability. It is recommended that youth have completed level 3 of American Red Cross swim lessons prior to joining the swim team. Swimmers who cannot successfully swim one length of the pool using one of the basic swim strokes will be directed to the Learn to Swim program. All summer swim teams meet three days a week during the months of June and July. Cost is $40.00 for the summer and includes eight weeks of practice, a t-shirt, and participation in all swim meets except the TAAF Qualifying Meet.
