[ARCHIVED] How to Choose your Child's Swim Class

Swim lesson instructor with girl in pool

We get this question all the time. To ensure students get the most out of swim lessons, Dallas Aquatics encourages parents to sign their children up for the level that best fits their abilities, with children of the same age range. Dallas Aquatics offers the American Red Cross curriculum. Lessons are split first by age, then by ability. Children under 3 should sign up for Parent and Child Aquatics. Parents are hands on in this class which helps young children with water adjustment. This class also provides instruction for parents to help them work with their child when class is over. Children 3-5 should register for Preschool Level classes which incorporate lots of age appropriate songs and games to teach children basic water skills in levels 1-3. Children 6-12 should sign up for the School Age Level classes. We have full descriptions of Levels 1-6 on our website or watch our swim skills videos that help you determine your child's level. If you are still unsure, we encourage you to bring your child to the pool for a free level assessment.
